It’s a sculpture of the famous photograph where a sailor is kissing a woman in Times Square.

In 2007 a newspaper article stated that the statue was on loan to an exhibition ” courtesy of the Port of San Diego” its seems that its permanent location was the G Street Mole Park downtown.http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20070311/news_lz1a11kitsch.html
It was certainly there till February of this year http://www.gillianchristy.com/news.shtml
