THE ANCIENT ART OF
WUSHU
By Master Vital Yarashevich
China is a place where history is full of rich cultural and religious undertones.
Chinese development of the arts such as painting, writing, pottery and embroidery is until this day seen as innovative and
useful. However the influence of strength and enlightenment gave way to a force that engulfed the findings of immortality
and those ideas gave birth to a unique and inimitable system of physical and spiritual perfection called Wushu.
Wushu is a name rarely recognized by people;
however it is the true understanding of martial arts training techniques. There are two terms: "Wushu"
and "Kung Fu", which are often confused. In fact Wushu and Kung Fu are the same. Wushu (武术) is literally translated as "martial arts". Gung Fu (功夫), which is also incorrectly transcribed as "Kung Fu"
or "Kun Fu", means "skill" and in China, can be used in relation to boxing as well as in relation to a
talented musician, cook, etc. The tradition of saying "Kung Fu" came through translations of old Hong Kong militants,
in which say "Kung Fu" (common pronunciation in Cantonese, distributed in southern China), to English.

Wushu is a Chinese system of psycho-physical
exercises, which has a deep philosophical base and teaches that all things in the world are interconnected. One atom cannot
exist without the other; therefore, if we ignore the spiritual component of martial arts, it is impossible to achieve true
mastery and physical perfection.
Wushu exercises have a butterfly
appearance of flight. When they are performed slowly, they resemble a mystic dance, while a performance of forms (which are
called "complexes of exercises") in a rapid pace - a great opportunity to demonstrate the potential of your body.
In addition, when these exercises are performed in pairs, they look like one of the martial arts. Any form of Wushu can have
combat use. At the same time, Wushu does not develop human aggression, but rather teaches to stay away from conflict situations
and to apply combat skills only in extreme situations when a life is threatened.

The main feature of Wushu is that all
people of various ages, genders, physiques and fitness levels can do it. The same exercises will work individually by being
both mental and physical training and help achieve health and physical perfection.
It is known that athletes from seven to
seventy years of age and older can participate the Wushu competitions. These athletes achieve awards within their subgroups.
It is amazing how eighty and ninety-year-old masters perform the most complicated elements and show the youthful flexibility
of the joints and muscles.
Wushu training is good for children. Wushu
promotes the all-round development of the child; spiritual and physical. It generates a strong will, commitment, responsibility,
develops strength, coordination, and the beauty of movement.

Gymnastics Wushu provides a uniform load
on all muscle groups, thus contributes to the formation of an ideal figure. Chinese doctors have found that slow Wushu exercises
help burn calories not worse than aerobics. Thus Wushu is very useful for women. Wushu has exercises with the use of the ball,
ribbon, or a fan (the famous style of Mulan).
Wushu - is not only an effective system
for recovering the body, but it is also a particular philosophy of life, in tune with the ancient Eastern philosophy. Furthermore
it is a modern sport, recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
