May 16 Fishing Report
Since I’d been busy with clients I hadn’t taken my wife out on the water for quite some time. I decided to take her out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and see if the Yellowtail Snappers were biting. First we stopped and bought some pilchards from Frank at Ashley Live Bait, then headed south. We cruised out to Pacific Light and anchored in 65’ of water. I then put out some chum. My wife and I fished for about 3 hours with only 3 Yellowtails and 4 Sharks hitting the bottom rods to show for our efforts. We then packed up and headed back north to the “TR2 area” and anchored in 75’ of water. I put out more chum and let it dissipate for about a half an hour before putting our lines in the water. Once we started fishing we caught one Yellowtail after another until we reached the limit of 20. They were all approximately 16” to 18” long. It was a great day on the water with very good results. If this is a preview of what we can expect this summer we are going to have a great snapper season. Fishing will continue to improve; this is my favorite times of year to fish for big kingfish, dolphin (mahi mahi) and black fin tunas and mutton snappers. I still have days available in May and June, give me a call if you want to get out and enjoy the great fishing Miami has to offer. REMEMBER: Summer is here and it gets too hot to fish during the day. Give me a call to inquire about our evening yellow tail and mangrove snapper trips. Mention this ad and receive
