Afternoon Delight
By Capt. Jorge Fernandez

I got a call from a couple of friends who wanted to put their kids on some fish.  So we decided to do an evening trip which would consist of trolling for Black Fin Tuna and then Snapper fishing.  The evening started with an attempt at catching bait at Bug Light.  I say “an attempt” because bait was very hard to get so with only a few Pilchards and a few Cigar Minnos we were on our way.  We started fishing at 6:30pm south of Fowey Rocks. The lines went in at 100’ and ran out to 200’. We found the bite at 145’. First fish hit no more then ten minutes into the troll. The action was none stop all of the kids got a turn to crank in a Black Fin and one nice Wahoo that hit just before dark. At 8:30pm we anchored up started to fish for yellowtails. The current was ripping but we still managed a few, but due to storms we called it quits early.

Final Tally

5 Black Fins

1 Wahoo

9 Yellowtails

It is always a fun time when we take kids fishing especially when they catch fish.

I still have days available in July and August, give me a call if you want to get out and enjoy the great fishing South Florida has to offer.

REMEMBER:  Summer is here and it gets too hot to fish during the day.  An evening Snapper fishing trip is a great way to put some good eating fish on the dinner table without getting overheated and breaking the bank.  Give me a call to inquire about our evening yellow tail and mangrove snapper trips.
