Fishing Report

I had the pleasure of fishing with Bill Wymer and his two buddies from the Tampa area.  We met at the marina at 7:00am after we loaded their gear I headed toward Government Cut to meet with Pedro from Ashley Live Bait.  He loaded my live well with some really nice pilchards.

We started heading offshore but it was very uncomfortable did one drift and slow trolled for a few hours with out a bite.  I decided to move in and fish the range marker just outside of Government Cut.  Anchored up put out a chum bag, the Spanish Mackerels showed up hungry.  We fished the range marker for a couple of hours and the bite stopped.  We picked up and ran into Biscayne Bay to see what we could find.  We got to our spot and started chumming with frozen chum and pilchards.  We got a couple of hits but nothing worth while.  Out of nowhere we got hit by a nasty storm the wind picked up to around 30 knots with heavy rain.  At that time the guys decided to call it a day. Even though we got soaked wet we had a fun day talking about life and family.

The final tally was 9 Spanish Mackerels from 5 to 7 pounds.

Fishing will continue to improve; this is one of my favorite times of year to fish the late afternoon and evenings for big kingfish, dolphin (mahi mahi) and black fin tunas.

I still have days available in April and May give me a call if you want to get out and enjoy the great fishing Miami has to offer.

Mention Miami Life Magazine and receive $75 off a full day charter!
