Andy Slater

A South Florida native, Andy is glad to be covering sports in his hometown. his approach to sports radio is somewhat different from the rest. Instead of telling you what’s going on in the sports world, he wants you to feel like you’re part of it.
Andy got involved in the broadcasting industry very early. When he was 6-years-old he knew this is what he wanted to do.  He started his broadcasting career at Miami Killian Senior High, where he was Sports Director for his junior and senior year, and at Franklin Pierce College, located in Rindge, New Hampshire. He then had a local show on 790AM in Miami.  He then received a few awards for Sports Show of the Year at Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL.

In early 2008, he began his next programming step, starting The Slater Show during 640AM WFTL Sports’ inception.
A highlight of the show is the highly praised interviews Andy is able to obtain. Affiliated in the sports industry, Andy has many avenues to have “big time” sports figures on the show. When you listen to the show, you’ll definitely hear some live interviews with some great sports figures.
Just some of his previous guests have included: Olli Jokinen, Don King, Andre Dawson, Frank Robinson, Jonathan Papelbon, Carlos Delgado, Adam Dunn, Frank Francisco, Yovani Gallardo, O.J. Simpson, Plácido  Polanco, Denis Potvin  and Jacques Martin.
Andy is very excited that he is now bringing all he can offer in the sports radio world to Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and the Palm Beaches!

He was kind enough to stop by and answer 7 questions.

What do you like best about Miami?

I enjoy the option of being out at 4:00am... not saying that I always am, but it's an option! So many cities are in bed at 2:00am. Living here for 32 years, I can also say I've never gotten up in the morning and had to shovel snow. I'd say that's a major plus!

What do like the least about Miami?

Traffic! It'd be nice if Miami had much better public transportation.. ya know, like jumping onto a subway or train and being somewhere fast!

Favorite movie?

A Time To Kill with Samuel L. Jackson.

Favorite book?

Juicing the Game by Howard Bryant.

Favorite Musician?

Can it be a 3-way-tie?  Deadmau5, DJ Tiesto, and Kaskade.

Favorite place?

Joe's Stone Crab.

What would you like to tell your Miami fans?

Those exist? I appreciate everyone one of you! Just keep doing what you're doing and maybe next time I'll be answering 14 questions.
